Are you a member of a professional body for photographers?

Kevin is a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers.

It is advisable to choose a photographer who is a member of the two UK professional organisations. The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and Master Photographers Association, (MPA). These are the only two photography organisations whose members must be qualified and who must adhere to a strict code of professional conduct.

The BIPP code is detailed below.

Code of Professional Conduct.
This Code of Professional Conduct is published by the Board of Directors of the Institute in accordance with Article 61 (g) of the Institute’s Articles of Association. The Code shall have effect from June 2007 until amended or replaced.
By accepting membership of the Institute, each member agrees to be bound by this Code. If a member is or has been, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, guilty of any conduct which breaches this Code, the Board may in its absolute discretion expel or suspend that member for such period and on such terms as it thinks fit.

The Code:
• Members shall do nothing that may damage the reputation or standing of the Institute and in all their professional dealings and works shall:

• Co-operate with the Institute and any person appointed to it in an investigation into an alleged breach of this Code.

How would you describe your style of children and family portraiture?

Our working methods and procedures are not about your children having to sit still and behave. Neither does it have to entail your family unnaturally prancing about in front of a white background.

Our style is contemporary but not at the expense of traditional quality and we don’t disguise poor photo’s behind a multitude of effects. We present memorable, natural images, simply and effectively.

We aim to capture real, honest portraits, focusing on your family, combining beautiful lighting with real expressions. Portraits you will never tire of and be treasured by your family, for generations.

We understand that every child is different. There are the performers, the spirited, the shy, the doleful. We adapt our approach to the personality of your child to ensure the session is fun and stress free for all.

We don’t necessarily need a smile to prompt us to press the camera shutter. A soulful look, a wistful or contemplative glance can result in some of our clients favorite portraits of their children.

Will you photograph our pet dog too?

Absolutely. We create professional animal portraits of dogs, cats and all kinds of pets and animals. Animals can at times introduce a certain amount of chaos into the proceedings but that is no bad thing. If the dog cat, horse, guinea pig or rabbit won’t sit nicely for a group shot it is probably best to let it do its own thing. Pets which are clutched tightly, to keep them in order, always look uncomfortable in the final portrait.

You can include your pet in a family portrait or have a stand alone portrait
done. Pets make wonderful subjects for animal fine art photographs and wall art.

Where is your portrait studio based?

Our portrait studio is located at Perrins Farm in Childswickham, a small rural village close to Broadway on the Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire border. We are an easy, twenty minute drive from the M5 and within half an hours drive of the M42 and M40 motor ways.

Cotswold Portrait Studios is ideally located within easy reach of the M5, and close to Evesham, Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham, Worcester, Oxford, the South West and West Midlands.

We often shoot portraits in the village, it is blessed with some lovely locations and backgrounds for photography.

About our Village

Childswickham is situated within the ‘big skies’ landscape of the Vale of Evesham, lying between the Bredon and Cotswold Hills, It is two miles from Broadway. It is an area known for market gardening, fruit orchards, arable and pasture land; the fields bordered by ancient hedgerows.
The village’s location on the edge of the North Cotswolds results in a mixture of building styles, from Cotswold limestone to red brick, and the more traditional Worcestershire black and white half timber and thatch. The earliest buildings are timber framed with wattle and daub and Cotswold limestone. All make wonderful backgrounds for portraits if you want that rural village look.

The name Childswickham is thought to have derived from ‘Child’, the young son of a nobleman, ‘wick’, a clearing in the wood and ‘ham’, short for hamlet. On old maps the village name is split into two parts Childs Wickham.

Its history can be traced back to Roman times as coins and pottery of this era were found in fields on the old Roman road from Worcester to London which came through the village. In fact, our photography meadow is on the site of a Roman Villa and settlements dating back 4000 years. We often find roman coins roman broaches, pottery in abundance and other artifacts on our land.

The 15th century spire of the Norman church, St Mary the Virgin, is a local landmark which can be seen from the Cotswold escarpment and from miles around.

We were a part of Gloucestershire until 1931.
